Web Site Promotion - WordPress SEO Success in 9 Steps

Web Site Promotion - WordPress SEO Success in 9 Steps

Step 1) Host your WordPress blog on your own domain -

If you have a personal blog for friends and family hosted on WordPress, that's fine. For businesses, the only option is to have a WordPress blog with your own domain name on a hosting website. This gives you the most flexibility and the most options. It is the main answer for the best web search tool results.

Step 2) Check title and taglines. -

WordPress introduces each blog with a title that you pick. The tagline is not installed by default. Make sure your title contains one of your most important keywords, and describe your blog in the tagline in natural language. You should only use your company name in the tagline if you have a nationally recognized brand name. If you want to put your company name somewhere, you can include it in the metatag description.

Step 3) Check the basic SEO settings -

Warning: this is an important step! In your WordPress dashboard, under Settings / Privacy, make sure you have the "I want my blog to be visible to everyone" option checked. If your blog has the "I want to block search engines" option checked under Privacy, your blog will be invisible to search engines. This is OK for a personal blog, but not for a business. If you block search engines, your blog might as well be in a cave on a desert island. With the second set, SEO is turned off. Make sure this setting is set to "On" as described above.

Step 4) Enable the Akismet plugin.

This plugin comes pre-installed on all new WordPress installations. All you need to do is request a WordPress API key from the WordPress website, paste the code into the editor and activate the plugin.

Step 5) Install the All in One SEO Pack plugin.

This is one of the most popular plugins for SEO. Of course, WordPress doesn't make SEO-accommodating URLs for your posts. This is handled automatically by this plugin. You can control a number of other SEO options via the options configuration panel. There are 20 different options here. All you need to do is click on the option name on the left side, and a full help describes each option and its function.

Step 6) Install the Google XML Sitemaps plugin.

This plugin creates a pretty sophisticated routine that Google robots will follow when crawling your site. Most of the settings here can be left at default unless you really know what you are doing.

Step 7) - Install the Robots Meta Plugin.

This is an important file that tells Google robots what you do not want them to see on your site. There are some areas on any WordPress blog that simply do not need to be crawled.

Step 8) - Install the SEO-friendly images plugin.

This is an often overlooked area, but even if you have tons of images on your site, they will all have alt and title attributes.

Step 9) - Install WordPress Backup (from BTE) -

This will automatically back up your WordPress installation on a daily basis.

There are many more sophisticated plugins and advanced options you could add to this list, but this will give you all the essential elements you need to make your WordPress blog SEO friendly and increase your chance of successful website promotion.

Most importantly, recollect that albeit these on-location designs are significant, on-page setup isn't close to as significant as off-page factors. Website SEO is important, but it is only the beginning of website promotion.
